Why Choose Our International Student Program?

Our program is designed as a fully immersive experience that goes beyond traditional study abroad. Here’s what makes it special:

  • Master French naturally through daily life and school interactions.
  • Experience Waldorf education firsthand: a holistic, arts-infused approach that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth.
  • Discover the rich culture, nature, and history of the Avignon region—from medieval festivals to the landscapes of Provence.
  • Build lifelong connections with your host family and our school community. Many students and families stay in touch for years after the program ends.
  • Develop global citizenship by fostering open-mindedness, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the world.

How the Program Works

  • Are ready to embrace the Waldorf approach and community life.

Note: For reciprocal exchange programs, please visit our dedicated exchange page.

Application Process

  1. Submit your application
Complete our High School Visiting Student Application.
  2. Parental authorization
Parents must sign a document granting temporary parental authority to the host family during the stay.
  3. Host family matching No student is accepted until a suitable host family is secured. We prioritize finding a family that aligns with the student’s interests, lifestyle, and needs.
  4. Get to know your host family
Once matched, you’ll receive their contact information to connect before arrival and start building a relationship.
  5. Finalize registration
Pay the required fees (registration, supply/activity, and monthly tuition) to confirm your spot.

⚠️ Plan ahead!
We recommend starting the process at least 6 months before your intended arrival date, as finding the perfect host family and completing all steps can take time.

Accommodation: Live Like a Local

Host Family Stay – The Heart of the Experience

Most of our international students live with host families who have children attending our Steiner School (in high school or lower grades). These families—some French, others international but long-time residents of the region—are volunteers passionate about welcoming students from abroad.

Why stay with a host family?

  • Full language immersion: Practice French in real-life situations, from meals to outings.
  • Cultural integration: Experience local traditions, customs, and daily life in Provence.
  • Support and guidance: Host families help students navigate school, the area, and any challenges.

How we match students and families
We take the time to understand your child’s needs, hobbies, and personality to ensure a compatible and enriching match. Our International Student Coordinator assists families throughout the registration process.

Alternative Accommodation Options

While we strongly recommend staying with a host family for the full immersive experience, we can explore other solutions (such as renting a room nearby) if needed.
